Out of the Mouths of Babes

In this case the babe is my 85 year old mother. She's a trip and has never had much of a filter to put it mildly. I love her to death and know she loves me, but as a 50 year old adult and a parent myself I can honestly say nothing hurts more than the god's honest truth. I lay here in bed late on Sunday night after a wonderful Spring break vacation down in Phoenix with my family, in-laws, sister in-law and her two kids trying to process something my mom said to my wife. Process may be to strong a word as it is what it is and chuckle at the irony in her words. Or maybe the blackness of the kettle being called, but she said to my wife, and I paraphrase.  Suzy I love you so much and am so grateful for you and your family. I'm so happy for you and Andy and your girls and you have done so well and wonderful..."well...because Andy has always been so difficult." Yes I am. Truer words have never been spoken. Thanks Mom. Difficult people run in the family. I think I got it from your side of the family. Hard to deal with, but easy to love!
